Going Once, Going Twice...

Admit it: you've seen your favorite Celeb wear a totally to-die-for outfit in a movie and say "OMG I've gotta have it". Well now you can. Recently, Best Actress Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence, auctioned off some of the outfits she wore in her award winning role in the film Silver Linings Playbook. According to an article posted on Yahoo.com, memorabilia dealer Nate D. Sanders, who is responsible for the auction, hopes to earn between $500-$1,500 for the pieces. Some of the items being auctioned are a sports bra, skin-tight white dance pants, and a winter coat Lawrence donned in the movie. But she isn't the first to put items up for auction.

Celebrities have been auctioning off items for years. Most of the time the proceeds go towards a charity of the celebs (or their people's) choosing. Everyone from JLo to ALL  the Kardashians have put something up for auction. This trend became even more fashionable when eBay launched eBay Celebrity back in November 2011, a site that is meant specifically for celebs to auction off whatever their hearts desire. Each celebrity has their own page and their own charity that the proceeds of the sales are donated to. You can also learn about the interests of each celebrity and why they chose the charity they did. For example, TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has teamed up with The Gentle Barn, a foundation whose goal is "teaching people kindness and compassion to animals, each other, and our planet". The site then gives you a link to the charity's eBay page and you can shop for items listed with the proceeds being donated to the foundation. eBay Celebrity also gives you a chance to shop like your favorite celebs by listing items from their shopping searches.

Though I would probably never bid on a celebs hand me downs (except maybe Audrey Hepburn) I think the concept of this type of business is pretty ingenious. It is a great way for collectors (and stalkers) to have a their very own piece of their favorite celebrity or movie.
